By the time you reach Torvian, Hand of the Saviour in Act 4, Path of Exile 2 stops feeling like a simple damage race. This fight, tucked into Arastas during The Search, asks for a different mindset. Why the fight feels so rough at first

If you just stand there and unload your skills, his health barely moves. Sometimes it feels like it doesn't move at all. They keep attacking the boss and hope the answer is more damage. It isn't.

How the mechanic actually works

Once you notice the pattern, the fight starts to make sense. After a heavy slam, Torvian follows up by throwing a huge boulder at your position. That's the key. You need to stand in line with one of the platforms so the boulder crashes into it instead of just clipping you. When it lands properly, the priest on that platform gets disrupted and Torvian loses that layer of protection for a while. Then you do it again on the second platform, then the third. It sounds simple written out like that, but in the arena it's messy. You're reading his animation, moving early, and trying not to mistime the bait. What makes the arena so awkward

The longer the fight goes, the more annoying the space becomes. Torvian throws up walls that break your route and mess with the angle you want for the boulder.
