A crowded Abyss crack is the kind of screen where Frogmancer starts making sense: you cast into the first pack, one enemy drops, and the fight suddenly fills with toxic summons instead of the usual Witch minion clutter. It is a strange PoE 2 build, but it has a real farming rhythm once the trigger is working. Before chasing perfect rares, set aside enough Path of Exile 2 Currency for basic gear upgrades and gem experimentation, because this setup feels bad when its Hex is too slow or its frogs spend half the fight walking.

Doedre's Undoing Turns a Curse into Your Clear Tool

The build lives or dies with Doedre's Undoing. Rather than treating Despair as a passive debuff you apply before another skill does the damage, you throw your Hex directly into a dense encounter and let the shield or focus convert that application into toxic frog spawns when targets die. The first kill matters most. Once it happens, the curse explosion creates several frogs at once, and their plague damage can keep pressure on the rest of the pack. Against bosses, the appeal is the stacking toxic damage rather than a single flashy hit, so don't judge the build only by how quickly it deletes weak monsters.

Your Gem Links Need to Support the Loop, Not Just the Tooltip

Despair is the natural trigger because it is a fast, broad Hex, though another quick high-area Hex can fill the same role. Hex Bloom Support is the clear-speed piece: spreading the curse through dying packs gives Doedre's Undoing more opportunities to produce frogs. Minion Damage Support is the straightforward damage multiplier and shouldn't be the link you cut first. Unbound Ailments Support helps the toxic effect linger and hit harder, which is especially useful on durable rare enemies and pinnacles. Meat Shield Support is more of a comfort choice than a pure DPS choice, but having part of the swarm pull aggression away from your Witch makes messy encounters much less punishing.

Defence Stats Also Feed the Summon Plan

The unusual gearing angle is that frog health scales from global Intelligence and total Chaos Resistance. That gives hybrid defensive pieces more value than they would have in a minion setup focused only on spell levels. A wand with +1 to all Chaos Spell Gems and minion maximum life is a sensible target, but don't wreck your resistance setup chasing it. Rings with minion movement speed are also easy to underestimate. Faster frogs reach the next target sooner, waste less time on terrain, and make the build feel far less sluggish during long map clears.

Frogmancer has a rougher early feel than conventional minions because it needs Doedre's Undoing and enough pack density for its chain reaction to shine. In endgame, though, it rewards players who position their Hex at the center of a pull instead of casting at the edge and hoping the spread catches up. Spend carefully on upgrades, use buy POE 2 Orb of Alchemy only when a map upgrade supports your current grind, and let the frogs do their work.
