If you drop by a normal nursery school in town, you'll usually see tiny 4-year-olds sitting on hard chairs, trying not to wiggle while a teacher writes "A, B, C" on a board. They hand a thick pencil to a kid whose fingers are still soft, tell them to trace dotted lines for an hour, and then wonder why the child cries every morning before getting on the school bus.
